News round up of 2020

2020 wasn’t the year we expected but on balance it was a good year for AutoRIM. Customers in some sectors, particularly catering refrigeration and automotive experienced a torrid time but other sectors saw demand increase exponentially particularly AutoRIM customers both old and new manufacturing polyurethane insulated panels – both SIPs and full wall timber frame – supplying the rising demand for garden rooms and home offices.

Travel was curtailed but in co-operation with our Austrian partner Polytec EMC we expanded the machine base in the UK utilising AutoRIM technical support in the installation of a Polytec EMC multi-component elastomer unit at Watts Urethane Products in Gloucestershire.

The restrictions on travel didn’t prevent the AutoRIM technical team working virtually with Krauss Maffei colleagues in Munich on product development resulting in the worldwide launch of the new RimStar Smart machine in the Autumn of 2020.

Being specialists in our field of problem solving solutions brought Toyota Motor Manufacturing to AutoRIM to work together to bring a mothballed off stream facility back into production and expand it beyond its original scope with the introduction of Krauss Maffei high pressure technology to satisfy worldwide customer demand for Toyota vehicle parts. A challenging undertaking requiring all of AutoRIM’s skillset in design, robot integration, and electronic control retrofit. A difficult job with a great customer.

Just prior to the first UK shutdown AutoRIM partner H&S Anlagentechnik took an order for a tank farm at a leading manufacturer of polyurethane foam systems consisting of amongst other equipment 6no. 40,000 litre horizontal chemical storage vessels each with offload, recirculation, radar level controls and remote monitoring system to ensure chemical supply assurance for a high profile local processor. Despite the delays and setbacks brought by the events of 2020 we’re pleased to say this bulk storage system is installed and coming on stream.

2020 gave us the time to focus on the new generation AutoRIM low pressure foam metering Rim-Mix with 99 pouring programmes, improved ergonomics, and closed loop feedback taking the Rim-Mix to the next generation. 2020 also proved a good time for AutoRIM to take on new staff and review working practices.

AutoRIM also appointed our first overseas agent Khazin Technologies bringing new opportunities to AutoRIM outside of Europe and have now supplied a number of UK built units into that market expanding the global AutoRIM presence.
